Top Men’s Trends for Fall & Winter
Hello, Fall ManFashionistas/Men Who Want to Look Kind of Nicer Than They Currently Do!
It’s chilly weather season! That means you have about 250 flannel shirts and 500 sweaters that all kind of look the same-ish to choose from. And while its hard not to be stimulated choosing between the bluish-green plaid button-down and the greenish-blue plaid button-down in your closet, we can do better guys!
Men’s Fashion Week offered all the inspiration you need- and between the sheer tops and the bell bottoms, there were completely approachable everyday dude style trends for Fall Winter. Below find my favorite masculine, fool proof, stylish trends for this season!
Plaid Overcoats
Strapping plaids were displayed on tailored silhouettes in warm wool fabrications. The eye-catching outerwear piece is ideal for every day work wear or an overdue dinner out with the Mrs.
Leisure Suits
Comfortable and easy- who can object to that? Leisure suits were decidedly not just for lazy days, ranging from casual cool sweat sets, to sporty athletic combinations, to refined elevated sweater knits.
Sherpa Lined Leather Jackets
Not only does this classic coat offer a sweet top gun vibe, it will never go out of style with it’s iconic status- so a totally worthwhile investment. It is also a perfectly versatile layer to transition from Fall to Winter.
Fairisle
Fairisle is that snowflake-ish print you picture wearing in a ski lodge. It’s the model print to make your heavy winter sweaters a little more fun and a lot more stylish. Looks amazing on a sweater vest or a chunky turtleneck, or try it layered under a down vest for a real hellllllooo Mr. Winter look.
The Iconic Trench
Is there any man out there that didn’t dream of being as badass as Dick Tracy? The sharp coat gives off all the vibes of an intelligent and polished crime buster (or hardworking family provider- either or, equally hot).
Layered Hoodies
How you wear your pieces together is what defines style. Right now, stylish layering is all about the hoodie. Upgrade your casual look by layering a hooded pullover under an open plaid button-down, or relax your dress-up blazer with a zip-up hoodie.
Velvet Blazer
Warning, the sensual velvet is going to come along with having ladies petting your biceps all night- but will you really mind that so much? Perfect for a holiday cocktail party or fall/winter wedding look.
Utility Shirt Coat
Who needs a bunch of pockets that aren’t really intended to be used? That’s right, you do. The utility shirt coat manages to give the attitude of the ever resourceful man’s man, with the style of a guy who knows a thing or two about fashion.
Turtleneck Sweaters
Turtlenecks aren’t just for art curators, and can be quite sexy if I do say so myself. Heavier knits with intricate cable detailing or arresting patterns cozied up the Men’s runways.
The Classic Cardigan
This classic menswear staple was made a little less classic this season with purposeful layering and fun colors, prints, and fabrics. Wear a novel cardigan on it’s own with a simple tee, or a more basic one layered with suit jackets and button-downs for an elevated take.
The Varsity Jacket
Many of the varsity jackets on the runway looked like high school seniors were plucked straight off of campus. And while I do not know many women crying about that image, I was partial to the less literal mixed-media two-tone interpretations (translation: sleeves a different fabric or color than the body of coat) for a more grown-up BMOC look.
Happy Styling Gentlemen! Stay warm and look cool.
