3 Must Try Lipstick Looks for Winter
Who needs sun kissed when you can be snow kissed? That’s right, winter is just as much for radiating beauty as summer is! Without perspiration, sunburns, and sticky SPF to worry about, winter is a wonderful time to have a little fun with your makeup routine. For me, it’s all about the lips and embracing snow day perfect shades.
So since you’re not getting a lot of color elsewhere in these winter months, get it from your lipstick tube! Below are my 3 most loved lipstick-centric looks that give me all the toasty feels and kiss those winter doldrums away!
Riveting Reds
No radiator needed when you greet him with a red pout, you’ll be bringing all the heat. A warm seasonal red brings femininity to your look during an overly bundled up season.
Cheek Notes: Go for a brownish blush with a hint of red to complement red lips, such as Clinique’s Chubby Stick Balm Blush in Amped Up Apple or Charlotte Tilbury’s Chic to Cheek Blush in The Climax.
Eyes Notes: When I’m wearing red lips, they are the hero of my makeup show. I keep my eyeshadow in neutral nude tones, like the shades found in the Naked2 Basics Eyeshadow Palette. Dark mascara and finished brows help your makeup look complete but not overdone.
Purpley Plum
Papa is going to be pulling off that parka when he sees that plum pout. In a grey season, purple is sexy and sassy! The hue also pops your eye shade, bringing added color and vibrance to your complexion.
Cheek Notes: I like to go with a light mauvey pink blush that compliments the purple hued lips, without adding too much color and looking like a cougar caricature. Try Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush in Dazzled or Clinique’s Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Plumped Up Peony.
Eye Notes: Again, I suggest subtly playing into that purple color with dusty pinks and roses. I reach for Morphe’s 9V Vintage Rose Artistry Palette to pop those peepers on my pretty in purple days!
Pinky Nude
Are you blushing from the nippy weather or is it a perfectly placed nudey pink? Keep him guessing & wanting with borderline-bare kissable pinks.
Cheek Notes: Soft natural pinks is the perfect lipstick look to have fun with shimmering highlighters. I like to start with a nude pink blush such as Stila’s Convertible Color in Lillium or Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed. Then sweep on some glow- I love Bobbi Brown’s Highlighting Powder!
Eye Notes: Play up your eyes and let them be the star when the rest of the look is natural leaning! A nude eyeshadow palette with shimmers and dark natural shades like Tarte’s Tartlette In Bloom will give you all you need for a complimenting dramatic eye!
All of my recommendations are friendly to a wealth of complexions and easily wearable all day (and into the night if you are so lucky mama!)
