Spring 2023 Fashion Week Trend Recap
Spring, we are ready for you! Blossoming buds, teasing temperatures, and above all, the fetching fashions! There was a movement towards feminine and ladylike for Spring- a notable shift away from the casual gender fluid trends we have seen in recent fashion seasons. Below we have recapped our most loved trends from Spring 2023 Fashion Week- it’s time to get your pretty on mama!
Statement Maxi Skirts
My inner romantic wants to play pretty princess dress up every day. The best way to do that casually (and socially acceptably)? Exude that enchantment with a voluminous statement skirt! Dress up or dress down to your liking, tiara optional.
Clockwise: Apiece Apart, Carolina Herrera, Roberto Cavalli, Elie Saab, Valentino, Christian Dior, Ulla Johnson
Matching Sets
My favorite trend coming out of Spring 2023 Fashion Week: feminine & fun sets!!! You quite literally always look put together. Many are practical for busy on-the-go mom lifestyles too!
Clockwise: Apiece Apart, Missoni, Elie Saab, Frederick Anderson, Luisa Beccaria, Chanel, Giambattista Valli, Lela Rose, Carolina Herrera
Metallics
I’m all about a gold rush, and a silver one too. Metallics were far from reserved for evenings out, adding glamour to laid back separates and simple one pieces.
Clockwise: Cecilie Bahnsen, Isabel Marant, Gabriela Hearst, Ralph Lauren, Akris, Courreges, Cynthia Rowley, Sacai
Cinched Waists
Belts accessorized runway fashions to draw the eye in at the waist and give ode to the female form. Buckle up, you’re going to look good.
Clockwise: Agnona, Sergio Hudson, Bibhu Mohapatra, Carolina Herrera, Dolce and Gabbana, Christian Dior, Arthur Arbesser
Ombre
Romance them in pastel palettes or sizzle in a burst of punch colors. Ombre is a style trend that did anything but fade from the spotlight.
Clockwise: Alejandra Alonso Rojas, Courreges, Ferragamo, Peter Do, Christian Cowan, Elie Saab, Maje, Area, Ester Manas
Tangible Florals
Florals for Spring, yes we know. But Spring 2023’s take on florals was as fresh as a bouquet! Florals were constructed for the touch, in both corsage literal and artistic abstract forms.
Clockwise: Cynthia Rowley, Roksandra, Dries Van Noten, Lela Rose, Carolina Herrera, Naeem Khan, Loewe, Frederick Anderson, Bottega Veneta
Chic Minimalism
Uncomplicated figure-flattering outfits in combinations of tans, whites, and blacks offered an air of sophistication to the runways. Refreshing, Simple, Classy. And Easy. Yes, that works.
Clockwise: Bally, Miu Miu, Chanel, Nili Lotan, ALC, Max Mara, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Fendi,Valentino
Drop Waist Dresses
1920’s inspired dropwaist dresses were roaring down the runways! Channel the age of the red hot mamas in the feminine silhouette that invites the eye to dance down the body.
Clockwise: Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Lela Rose, Luisa Beccaria, Giambattista Valli, Molly Goddard, Naeem Khan
Wide Leg Denim
The drama was with the denim as wide leg jeans billowed down the catwalk. Interpretations varied from chic in polished crisp denims to edgy in distressed and damaged jeans.
Clockwise: Bottega Veneta, Dolce Gabbana, Frederick Anderson, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Jacquemus, David Koma
Lime Green
Time to step into the limelight ladies, in the decided pop color of the season! Accessorize with a playful contrasting color to get the full lime punch!
Clockwise: Alice + Olivia, Fendi, Area, Bronx and Banco, Elie Saab, Sergio Hudson, Cult Gaia
Moto
Formula One Drive to Survive vibes took a ride on the Fashion Week Trackways… I mean Runways!. A strong moto utilitarian message revved with zippers upon zippers, lots of pockets, and plenty of get-to-work one pieces.
Clockwise: Brandon Maxwell, Hermes, Alexander McQueen, Courreges, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Courreges, Isabel Marant, gmbh
Open Weaves
Decadent loose weaves sang to the romantic free spirits amongst us. Open crochet knits with feminine details were sexy and sweet all in one.
Clockwise: Gabriela Hearst, Cult Gaia, Bronx and Banco, Alejandro Alonso Rojas, Anna October, Dries van Noten, Isabel Marant, Ulla Johnson
Oversized Blazers
The blazer trend is not done taking charge! Make it femme with a “scantily clad” ensemble underneath or flirty fabrications.
Clockwise: Miu Miu, Stella McCartney, Rosetta Getty, Dries van Noten, Victoria Beckham, Apiece Apart, Antonio Marras, Brandon Maxwell
Low Rise Bottoms
I can’t do a Spring 2023 Recap without at least mentioning the dominant rise of choice… but also, I can’t. Post baby bod me prefers higher rises. My mantra is dress for your body and your confidence - whatever that is - but, if you’re inclined to be at the tip top of cool, you’re going to need to go and get yourself some low rises pants.
Clockwise: Gucci, Gabriela Hearst, Prabal Gurung, Miu Miu, Stella McCartney, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Courreges
