Resort Fashion Week 2022 Report: Trends from the Runways

Amidst the grey and bitterly cold January temperatures, we welcome with open accessorized arms a brilliant Resort Fashion Season!

Resort is the fashion season that bridges Fall and Spring, previewing warmer weather trends to come and solidifying cooler weather trends from Fall Fashion Week. The fashions can have an extensive range, but there are always some prevailing undeniable trends- and this season, they were captivating!

As it does, fashion on the runways mirrored the times we are living in. We are longing for a reason to dress up, a reason to be outside, and a reason to be seen. But if we can work in the cozy that we have become so complacent with, no one is going to shed tears over it.

Here are the top trends we saw from designers for our current Resort 2022 fashion season!

Rainbow Hues

What is the color this season? How about all of them… at once! I mean, can you see a rainbow and not smile? Beautiful splatterings of color brought life to styles from designers of every fashion genre- from fun and cheerful to edgy and chic. Dorothy would be proud.

Tan Neutrals

Color not really your thing? Not a worry- designers represented in extremes this season, balancing the rainbow statement with layered neutral on neutral looks. It was all about the light brown family this fashion week, with clashing tans paired together for sophisticated outfits gracing the runways.

Denim

Denim was first created in the 1870’s in response to soaring demand for durable work pants following the California Gold Rush. Well, we have come a long way since then, baby! Over 150 years since its birth, designers are having a blast playing with denim in high-end fashions. Innovation was the name of the game for the fabric that we live in, clothing models head to toe.

Mod Mini Skirts

A little bit of retro with a lotta bit of leg, the skirts of the runway were square in shape only. Print and fabrication varied by designer, but a short and snug silhouette was consistent. Time to dial up some sex appeal and show off those legs, ladies!

Colored Suiting

Tailored Pieces were all over the Runway in Fall, and come resort the designers let us know that they are not going anywhere. Cuts were overall slimmer than seasons past, showcasing a feminine profile. Vibrant styles in every color imaginable, the colored blazer is going to be the layering staple of the season.

Feathers

Whats more fun than fluffy furs? How about fluffy feathers! Styles were looking fly in the form of flirty trims and full on fluttering fashions. Is this trend one for the birds? Not sure about them, but it’s certainly one for me.

Block Stripes

Time to show your stripes ladies. But not just any stripes- bold block stripes. The runways were lined, with emphasis on both nautical blues and reds and classic black and white. Time to line your closets with bold banded stripes!

Party Dresses

We’re going out! After months and months (years), we all want somewhere to go and somewhere to be seen. Look-at-me-here-for-a-good-time party dresses met that message. Pretty, sexy, and feminine- all you need is a decadent cocktail to pair with these decadent numbers!

Statement Outerwear

Outerwear isn’t just something to keep you warm from one end of the runway to the other. It’s also the first thing people see you in, the first impression you make. As we fashionistas start venturing out again, and are attending an unprecedented amount of outdoor events, designers answered our needs with outerwear as fabulous as us.

Leggings

Bringing cutting edge fashion to easy comfort reigned on the runway. Leggings were fresh and forward, in loud colors and trippy prints. Traditional skinny legging were omnipresent, but also introduced was a contemporary bootcut silhouette. Whatever the interpretation of our favorite lazy day bottom, the designer’s message was steady- if we’re going for easy, let’s make it fun!

Knit Sets

Not pajamas.. but close. Head to toe knit dressing continued to be an outfitting of choice seen at fashion week. Styles were all about matching sets and fine ribs. Cool and cozy? Fashion dream accomplished.

Happy Resort Season Shopping, No Pajama Mamas!
