10 Men’s Trends from Spring 2022 Guys Might Actually Wear
Introducing No Pajama Papa? Not quite yet (but hey, who knows?). But, if your house is anything like mine, this No Pajama Mama is the primary shopper for Papa. My husband does tell me he cares about clothing and looking stylish, but the only time I’ve seen him excited about a “fashion” purchase was about a Wrangler workshirt/shacket he found at Walmart. And that’s where his shopaholic fashion obsessed wife comes in to play dress up- armed with resources I am here to share!
Many runway trends are intended for a far less average dude than my husband (only in wardrobe sweetie). If I brought home some of those looks, my credit card would be taken away. Yes I am in charge of shopping, but I am also met with plenty of opinions. So in the interest of making my recap somewhat useful, I honed in on the fashion trends that I could actually see most guys being willing to wear.
If you are a No Pajama Papa, have a No Pajama Papa, or most likely- wish you had a No Pajama Papa, enjoy spiffing up with our Men’s Spring 2022 Wearable Trend Report!
Top 10 Wearable Trends for Spring 2022
Country Green
The favorite easy wearable hue was decidedly a soft earthy green, and yes it did it look good. The color was applied to a broad range of styles, from sophisticated gentlemen dressing to athleisure cool style fashions.
The Varsity Bomber
Sporty, cool, and fresh, varsity bombers are the casual jacket of choice for Spring. Play up the varsity novelty to embrace the athletic roots of this jacket, or go with a simple bomber for a flattering and masculine Spring layer.
Dressy Casual
My personal favorite trend on the list- I mean who doesn’t love a man in a jacket? As office wear relaxes, casual wear is taking a step up- meeting in the middle to make dressy casual the lifestyle attire of the moment. Not minding it one bit.
Tailored Coats
In keeping with the dress-it-up movement, fine looking tailored jackets were the perfect compliment to the dressy casual lifestyle outfitting. If adventurous grab one in novel print, or look devastating in a sharp solid or gorgeous gingham.
Vests
Fashion week was a total guns show in Spring. Sweaters, tanks, blazers, button downs- nothing was off-limits to be sleeveless. If brandishing biceps isn’t your guy’s look of choice, try a more subtle cap sleeve top or layering a shirt underneath.
Warm Weather Leather
A leather jacket is the transitional weather IT item for Fall, so why not for transitional weather Spring too? Leather was EVERYWHERE, and many designers showcased beautifully handsome lightened up leather pieces that are just knocking my socks off for Spring.
Cardigans
The Cardigans is back and cooler than ever! We all love the comfort of a good old sweatshirt, but a knit cardigan is just as cozy and looks much sharper. Cardigans all had an element of novelty- often in lush cable detailing, but also via fun colors, prints, and vintage button detailing too.
Strong Collars
Collars were purposeful, pointed, and structured. Lax collars loosey goosey collars are a thing of the past. It is a subtle detail, but one that instantly makes your look intentional and of the times.
Pink
Real Men Wear Pink? Yeah they do. Light or loud, your call, add a pink item or rock it head to toe. This color is not just for the girls, can look quite hunky, and screams warm weather is coming.
Exaggerated Plackets
A retro fueled trend, emphasis on the placket adds interest to your basics and makes an outfit relevant and stylish. Contrasting colors, midi lengths, and subtle trims were all ways designers made novel plackets an important trend.
5 Noteworthy Trends for the More Avant-Garde Men Amongst Us
Some of the trends at fashion week were so dominant they are worth calling out! If you have a more fashionably adventurous guy, have fun with these head-turning trends!
Black on Black: Head to toe black was everywhere. This can be so sharp, but is definitely a personal preference kind of look. For black on black dressing fans, now is the moment to embrace it!
Party Fabrics: Metallic, sequin, and embellished fabrics made up full suits all over the runway. The sparkle made for a good show but was hard to picture most men sporting in real life. A novelty blazer in a metallic sheen is a toned down version of this trend that would look amazing!
Cutouts: Cut out circles at the chest, stomach, and along sleeves were a way to show off some sexy male bodies, but not really seeing this trend translate to the mainstream masses.
Electric Colors: Electric neons and vivid pop prints may have you reaching for sunglasses, but honestly looked pretty cool. If your man is one that likes standing out, run with it, or try the trend with an accent tee or accessory and balance with neutrals.
Skirts & Dresses: I guess guys want their turn with skirts and dresses too, and I’m not just talking in Scotland. As a dress addict myself, I can hardly blame them.
Can’t wait to see all those good looking men out there on the streets!
