Dresses with Sneakers: Under $100 Dress Finds for the Mom on the Go!
We can all picture it. The middle aged women we saw charging the streets in dated shoulder padded dresses and white sneakers, rushing to work or getting in some midday exercise. Teenage us cringed, swearing we would never be that unfashionable. There was a way to wear sneakers, and with a dress was definitely not it.
Fast forward to today, and in rolls GenZ. Challenging one fashion mantra after another, making looks cool that we wouldn’t have been caught dead in a couple years ago.
As a Millenial, I must admit that I am feeling the fashion rivalry with the younger generation and balking at some of the GenZ fashion movement. Skinny jeans? Sorry- they’re staying. Dressing like a Grandpa? No- why would I do that? But the sneakers with anything trend? Okay- you’ve got me on this one- I’m feeling it! From a practical standpoint, as a mom, I’m on my feet a lot. I’m carrying kids, I’m walking to school pick-ups, and I’m running late… all the time. As a rule, being mobile is a requirement of the mom job. From a style standpoint, GenZ or not, I like to be relevant and I think the sneakers dress combo can be totally chic when done right.
I know I’m pretty cutting edge here, but I am going to make a jump and assume my only GenZ reader is my baby sister (so far at least!). So for the rest of us that aren’t quite at the point of wearing Doc Martens with a slip dress, how do we pull of this trend that feels right for not only our style, but our lifestyle?
