Coat Trends from the Runways: 20 Fashion Finds Under $250
Fall is here and the leaves aren’t the only thing changing- its time for some wardrobe transitions too! Last week I shared my Fall 2021 Runway Report - and it was all about the outerwear.
Coats and jackets have always been a favorite “I can justify it” purchase of mine. For starters, in our new pandemic world, so much more of what we do is relocating to the outdoors. It’s no wonder so many of the trends coming out of fall fashion week were statement outerwear! Throw in, I live in Chicago. Outerwear is not only a nicety, but a necessity, for an extreme amount of the year. And then there is just baseline being a mom. So often, all that anyone is seeing me in is a coat- we’re always on the go. Dropping off at school. Taking a stroller stroll. Playgrounds/ parks/ sports. My coats gets a lot of use and a lot of visibility. With my dresses and separates, I feel a pressure to mix up my outfits so it doesn’t look like I’m wearing the same thing over and over. Coats though? Coats have a hall pass to be on repeat. No one expects to see you in a different coat for every interaction. So while sure, they should be functional, you better believe I want that coat to be fashionable.
This week I focused on the 4 most prominent outerwear trends coming out of Fall Fashion Week: Puffers, Long Lengths, Leather Jackets, and Furs. Check out my favorite finds at approachable price points to look fashionable all season long. We’re living in our coats these days- make it good!
Puffers: It was all about loud & large this season! Loving the puffer trend that is is the perfect blend of cozy and cool.
Long Lengths: Not your average overcoat, the catwalk was sporting sweeping lengths left and right. Whether in eye-catching prints or classic neutrals, you have to love the drama of these long coats.
Leather Jackets: A leather jacket adds instant edge to the most meh of outfits. Mine is my right hand man- and I’m all about adding another with some of the cool updates we saw on the runways!
Furs: Out with the fleece, in with the furs! All the cozy with none of the sloppy, you’re hard pressed to find a trend so dramatic that is even more soft and inviting than your favorite sweatshirt.
